Three Dutch groups take Meta to court over smart glasses on 26 November
The Consumentenbond, Offlimits and The Firewall want the Amsterdam court to stop sales of Meta's glasses while they can be used to record people secretly.
The Consumentenbond, Offlimits and The Firewall will face Meta in the Amsterdam district court on 26 November, the organisations announced on Thursday. In summary proceedings (kort geding), they are demanding that Meta stop selling the glasses for as long as they can be used to make secret recordings.
The three organisations had each summoned Meta separately to stop sales. They are now acting together and have asked the court to hear the cases jointly.
The Consumentenbond has asked Meta to make changes to the glasses, saying they would violate privacy law. Offlimits and The Firewall demand that the glasses be taken off the shelves and that Meta modifies the glasses already sold.
