Police seize 700 kilos of fireworks in Kapel Avezaath
Police found the fireworks and two firearms in a business premises in the Gelderland village on Tuesday 20 October, and arrested one suspect.
Police seized 700 kilos of fireworks and found two firearms in a business premises in Kapel Avezaath on Tuesday 20 October. A further 18 kilos of fireworks were found in a home in the same village. Police called it "an enormous amount" of fireworks.
The haul was partly ornamental fireworks and partly heavy fireworks such as cobras and shells. An earlier find of 46 kilos in the municipality of Tiel led police to the premises. Officers arrested a suspect after finding the two firearms. The suspect was brought before the examining magistrate (rechter-commissaris) on Friday. The magistrate ruled that the suspect must appear before a judge later and may await the case in freedom until then.
