Storm Austen could bring gusts of 75 to 100km/h in the south
A low-pressure system named Austen is approaching from the southwest and could bring wind force 9 on Friday, depending on its track. Either way, the day will be wet and windy.
A low-pressure system named Austen is moving towards the Netherlands from the southwest and could bring wind force 9 on Friday, though it is still uncertain whether it will get that far. Gusts of 75 to 100km/h are possible in the southern provinces, Weeronline says.
Austen's track is not yet certain. If the storm moves further north, a larger area could see stormy weather on Friday. On a more southerly track, it would be calmer across the whole country.
Either way, Friday will be a typical autumn day with a lot of rain and wind.
"If Austen crosses the North Sea, the Netherlands will be in the heaviest wind field," Weeronline says. "In that case we have to expect a lot of wind. A storm is then not entirely ruled out."
