Officers driving across the Hendrik Jan van Heekplein at about 23:24 saw a group of people near the Kalanderstraat. A 21-year-old man from Enschede was also injured.

The others in the group ran off towards the Kalandergang and the KFC on the Van Heekplein, police said. Officers cordoned off a large area around the Kalanderstraat, searched for traces and questioned residents. They also viewed security camera footage. The weapon has not been found.
