European Parliament wants methane import rules delayed three years
MEPs voted 341 to 225 to push back the EU's new methane emission rules for imported oil and gas by three years rather than one.
The European Parliament wants the EU's new methane emission rules for imported oil and gas postponed by three years, not one.
In the vote, 341 MEPs backed the longer delay and 225 voted against it.
A one-year postponement was already on the table. Parliament's position goes two years further, so the rules will take longer to apply to oil and gas brought into the EU from outside.
