Amsterdam tests 20 km/h speed limit for cyclists in Zuid
Amsterdam is trialling a 20 km/h speed limit for cyclists in Amsterdam-Zuid to see whether they ride slower and whether road safety improves.
The municipality of Amsterdam is running an experiment with a maximum speed of 20 kilometres per hour on a busy cycle path on the Amstelveenseweg in Amsterdam-Zuid. Over the coming weeks, cyclists on the path will see signs showing the number 20.
With the trial, the municipality wants to research whether cyclists ride more slowly and whether that improves road safety.
