Ichthus College in Veenendaal cancels first lessons after pupil Edo dies in truck accident
Ichthus College in Veenendaal dropped its first-hour lessons today and is offering extra support after a first-year pupil died in an accident with a truck.
Ichthus College in Veenendaal cancelled all lessons in the first hour today after the death of first-year pupil Edo, who died yesterday afternoon in an accident with a truck. All other lessons go ahead as normal.
Pupils who saw the accident happen can get extra support from their mentor, the school said. Other pupils who need support can also receive it.
The chair of the school's board wrote on the school website: "I can imagine this news shocks everyone. For the pupils, teachers and other staff who knew Edo, it is especially far-reaching."
The school added that it is praying for Edo's parents and family, "who have so suddenly been plunged into deep grief."
