Storm Boelo crossed the Netherlands in the night from Saturday to Sunday and caused damage across the country. The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) has issued code yellow for the coastal provinces and the Wadden region.
The KNMI warns of heavy gusts of up to 100 kilometres per hour in the coastal areas and the Wadden region. In the south the strong wind dies down on Sunday evening. In the northern coastal area, heavy gusts may continue into the night from Sunday to Monday, the institute says.
In Amsterdam, the festival Into the Woods, part of Amsterdam Dance Event, was stopped early on Saturday evening because of the wind. The organisation said: "The gusts are becoming so strong that it is not possible to shelter in tents."
