Ships can sail both ways again on Boven-IJssel
Rijkswaterstaat has ended one-way shipping traffic on the Boven-IJssel after days of rain raised the water level, but warns the dry period is not over.
Rijkswaterstaat has lifted the one-way rule for shipping on the Boven-IJssel after the rain of the past few days. Ships are no longer limited to one direction on the stretch between Arnhem and Zutphen.
The measure had applied since 14 October because of low water. Inland shipping was only allowed to sail upstream, from Zutphen to Arnhem. The water level has risen again because of the rain.
Rijkswaterstaat warns that the dry period is not over yet. "If the water level falls again, new measures for shipping may be introduced," it said.
