Ferrari hits traffic sign on wet N271 in Malden
A Ferrari left the wet N271 in Malden, Gelderland, around 1:00 last night; police say the car possibly slid, and nobody was hurt.
A Ferrari crashed on the N271 in Malden, in the province of Gelderland, at around 1:00 last night. The sports car went into the verge and hit a traffic sign.
Bad weather had left the road wet, so the car possibly slid, a police spokesperson said. The crash caused only material damage, and nobody else was injured.
The car is worth about €400,000. The driver escaped with a fright.
A thin layer of water between the tyres and the road can cause aquaplaning, when a car loses grip. The motoring organisation ANWB advises drivers who aquaplane to take their foot off the accelerator. In a manual car, pressing the clutch afterwards and keeping the steering as straight as possible can also help, it says.
