ANWB joins opposition to Belgium's planned road vignette
The Dutch motoring organisation is asking the European Commission to rule on a Belgian road vignette that could cost up to €125 a year from May 2027.
The ANWB has joined the growing opposition to Belgium's controversial toll plans. Belgium intends to introduce a vignette, a pass that motorists must buy to use the roads, in May 2027. The cost could rise to 125 euros per year.
A poll among ANWB members shows that 80 percent of them think the Benelux should remain toll-free. The organisation says it is acting on that view.
Mike Pinckaers, who represents members' interests at the ANWB, says the organisation is relaying the wish for a toll-free Benelux to Belgian politicians. It is also asking the European Commission to rule on the Belgian plans.
