Prosecutors demand six years for Nieuwegein man in fake police officer case

The Public Prosecution Service has demanded six years in prison against a man from Nieuwegein who it says had an important role in a criminal organisation of fake police officers.

The Public Prosecution Service (OM) demanded six years in prison on Tuesday against a man from Nieuwegein. According to the OM, he had an important role in a criminal organisation built around fake police officers (nepagenten).

The OM called the case "one of the biggest fake police officer cases in the country". That description comes from the prosecution itself, which presented the case against the man from Nieuwegein as one of national scale.

A prosecutor's demand (eis) is the sentence the OM asks the court to impose. The six years in prison is therefore the prosecution's request; the court decides on the verdict and any punishment.
