Ina Klaassen, director of Rotterdam's Boijmans museum, dies aged 57

Ina Klaassen, director of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, has died after a serious illness, and Sandra Kisters stays on as acting director.

Ina Klaassen, director of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, died on Sunday at the age of 57. She had been seriously ill.

Klaassen stopped her work at the museum in May.

The museum paid tribute to her in a press release. "With her passion, decisiveness, humour and deep love for art and for Rotterdam, Ina left a meaningful mark on the museum, the city and everyone who worked with her," it said.

Sandra Kisters took over as acting director when Klaassen stopped working. She remains in that role for the time being.
