N44 near Wassenaar closes on two Friday nights for road works
Rijkswaterstaat is closing the N44 in both directions on 9 and 16 October, with drivers expecting 10 to 15 minutes of extra travel time.
Rijkswaterstaat, the national roads agency, is closing the N44 near Wassenaar in both directions on two Friday nights while it carries out maintenance. The first closure runs from Friday 9 October at 21:00 to Saturday 10 October at 08:00, between Wassenaar (Den Deijl) and Den Haag (N14).
A second closure follows a week later, from Friday 16 October at 21:00 to Saturday 17 October at 08:00. Then the A44 and N44 are shut in both directions between Leiden (N206) and Wassenaar (Den Deijl).

- 9 October, 21:00 to 10 October, 08:00: N44 closed both ways between Wassenaar (Den Deijl) and Den Haag (N14).
- 16 October, 21:00 to 17 October, 08:00: A44 and N44 closed both ways between Leiden (N206) and Wassenaar (Den Deijl).
- Rijkswaterstaat expects 10 to 15 minutes of extra travel time.
Traffic from Den Haag towards Amsterdam is diverted via the N14/A12 and the A4. Rijkswaterstaat expects more traffic on the N14 and around the A4 junction at Leidschendam.
During the second closure, traffic from Amsterdam towards Den Haag on the A44 is diverted locally via the N443 and N206. Diversions are marked with roadside signs and route panels.
Crews will do green maintenance, mow verges, clean gutters and drains, repair damage to crash barriers and lighting, and fix asphalt where needed. Agreements with the emergency services are meant to keep emergency assistance at the required level during the closures.
