Overasselt night of violence: 42 suspects arrested after guard shot dead
Police have arrested 42 suspects over the armed attack in the Gelderland village of Overasselt, where a security guard was killed and officers came under fire.
Shots were fired more than forty times at the first police officers to arrive at the house of Jan G. in Overasselt on 1 September. Shortly before, a large group of armed men had moved through the village and shot a security guard dead in his car.
So far 42 suspects have been arrested for the violence. The last three were picked up yesterday.
Documents from the criminal case file show that the suspects played very different roles. Some perpetrators did not shy away from heavy violence, while others seem to have had hardly any idea what they were recruited for.
