Dutch intelligence chief says AI may become a threat in itself
AIVD director-general Simone Smit says she takes into account that artificial intelligence may become a new threat in its own right, separate from the existing threats it is used for.
Simone Smit, director-general of the AIVD, the Dutch intelligence and security service, says she takes into account that AI itself may become a new threat, separate from the existing threats for which it is used. She said so in Wereldupdate, a podcast by the think tank Clingendael.
Smit said AI is being used as a geopolitical tool. In her words, it offers great opportunities but is also a threat that the AIVD is researching.
