Police suspect fireworks in two Den Helder home explosions
Police suspect heavy fireworks caused the explosions on 28 October, which damaged front doors but injured nobody. They are appealing for witnesses and camera footage.
Two explosions hit homes in Den Helder in the early hours of 28 October. The first, at 03.50, was at a house on the Brakkeveldweg. The second, around 05.30, was at a home on the Louisehof. Nobody was injured in either.
On the Brakkeveldweg the front door was badly damaged and part of it was blown away. Police say there is a lot of damage and are going door to door in the area. On the Louisehof the blast damaged the front door.
Police say heavy fireworks were probably behind the Brakkeveldweg blast, and they suspect heavy fireworks on the Louisehof too.
Police are looking for a boy seen on a fatbike near the Louisehof, dressed completely in black. They ask anyone who saw him, or who has camera footage from the area and neighbouring streets, to come forward. For the Brakkeveldweg, police also ask for doorbell footage. Dashcam footage may help the investigation too, police said.
