Rapper Gers Pardoel is baptised in a lake

Rapper Gers Pardoel shared a black-and-white video of his baptism on Instagram on Tuesday. In it, two people fully immerse him in a lake, to piano music.

Pardoel calls the baptism a conscious choice to give his life to Jesus Christ. "My whole life I have been through a lot. Beautiful moments, but also periods when life was anything but easy," he wrote. He says his experiences brought him steadily closer to God.

"I know that I am not perfect and never will be. But I do know that I have made the best choice of my life," he wrote. He spoke of "a new chapter, with faith, love and trust" and ended his message with "Alle eer aan God" (all glory to God).

In recent years Pardoel became embroiled in a heated conflict with his ex-partner Sélina van Gool. She accused him of years of physical and psychological abuse. In her book Intieme terreur she described, among other things, how he allegedly hit her and pushed her down the stairs. Pardoel has denied the accusations.

Contact with the couple's two children also came under strain. Earlier this year Pardoel said he had not seen them for three years. In 2023 he received a contact ban and a visitation ban (contact- en omgangsverbod).
