Resolved Stuck lorry halts Amsterdam trains to Utrecht and Gouda
No trains ran between Amsterdam Centraal and Bijlmer ArenA on Monday morning after a lorry too tall for a viaduct got stuck, affecting services to Utrecht and Gouda.
A lorry that was too high to pass under a rail viaduct near Muiderpoort station in Amsterdam got stuck on Monday morning, 2 November. No trains ran between Amsterdam Centraal and Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA while the damage was checked.
The closure hit the routes from Amsterdam to Utrecht and from Amsterdam to Gouda. Travellers heading for Utrecht and Gouda could go around via Zuid station. NS expected the disruption to last until about 10:30.
Damage to the viaduct was found shortly before 9:00, after which NS adjusted its timetable. ProRail inspected the stretch of viaduct, which kept trains off the line for about an hour.
An NS spokesperson said the damage to the viaduct is limited, while the top of the lorry is considerably damaged.
