Storm Boelo cuts Into the Woods festival short in Amsterdam
The Into the Woods festival at the NDSM site will stop at 21:30 on Saturday, an hour and a half early, because storm Boelo is bringing strong gusts, while other Amsterdam Dance Event parties go ahead.
The Into the Woods festival at the NDSM site in Amsterdam-Noord will end at 21:30 on Saturday evening instead of 23:00. The organisers decided to cut it short because of storm Boelo, in consultation with the emergency services.
The organisers say the gusts will become so strong that people cannot shelter in tents. The festival is partly held outdoors. "We are really gutted about this," a spokesperson said. "But our biggest concern is the safety of visitors, artists and crew."
The KNMI, the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute, has issued code yellow for strong wind gusts from 22:00 on Saturday, including for Noord-Holland.
The other Amsterdam Dance Event parties on Saturday evening go ahead because they take place indoors, an ADE spokesperson said. Only Mystic Garden is partly outdoors, at a location the spokesperson described as less exposed to the wind.
