Clocks go back an hour tonight, giving you an extra hour in bed
The Netherlands returns to Central European Time at 3:00 on Sunday, and EU countries still cannot agree which time to keep for good.
In the night from Saturday to Sunday, the clock goes back one hour at 3:00. The Netherlands returns to Central European Time, the time that belongs to its time zone, and people can sleep an hour longer.
In March 2027 the Netherlands, like all other EU countries, will switch to summer time again. The European Parliament voted by a large majority in 2019 to abolish the switch between summer and winter time. EU member states have not agreed on which time to keep. Spain, for one, is lobbying within the EU to scrap winter time.
Elsewhere, US President Donald Trump has argued for scrapping winter time in his country so Americans get more daylight at the end of the day. He says that would help tourism and hospitality.
