sc Heerenveen beat Feyenoord 5-3 at home in the Eredivisie, coming back after Feyenoord had led by two goals. Substitute Ringo Meerveld scored a hat-trick of 3 goals, the last of them in stoppage time.

It was Feyenoord's first defeat of the Eredivisie season. Their lead at the top is at risk: Ajax and FC Twente drew 2-2, so neither took over, but PSV can pass Feyenoord with a win over Cambuur later on Sunday.

Anis Hadj Moussa put Feyenoord ahead, and Nacho Ferri doubled the lead from a penalty. Referee Danny Makkelie awarded it for a handball by Heerenveen defender Vasilios Zagaritis, who touched the ball with his supporting arm while sliding. The video referee did not intervene, and the decision was described as debatable. Heerenveen coach Robin Veldman received a yellow card for showing his frustration after the penalty.

Maas Willemsen pulled one back from a corner just before half-time. After the break Levi Smans levelled with a shot deflected by Feyenoord's Tsuyoshi Watanabe. Meerveld then put Heerenveen ahead. Sem Steijn equalised after Feyenoord coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst made three substitutions. Meerveld then scored twice more, which settled the final score.
