1979 Porsche 911 from Dutch national police sells for €202,000
A 1979 Porsche 911 once driven by the Rijkspolitie, the Dutch national police force of the time, sold at auction for €202,000. The buyer pays another €6,000 in costs.
A 1979 Porsche 911 3.0 SC that served the Rijkspolitie sold at auction for €202,000. The buyer pays €6,000 in auction costs on top.
The Rijkspolitie drove the 911 Targa in the 1980s and 1990s, and the cars are seen as iconic.
The seller, a collector from Borne, said he put the car up with no reserve, meaning there was no minimum price. He called the outcome a nice return. He said the previous police Porsche to be auctioned fetched $250,000, a record for the American market at the time.
"As far as I could check, this is a record for the European market," the seller said. He said the money must arrive within a week, after which the car will be handed over.

Rijkspolitie
The Rijkspolitie was the national state police force of the Netherlands. It has no separate existence today: since 2013 policing across the country has been carried out by the single Nationale Politie. In the Dutch context, a vehicle that served the Rijkspolitie was used by that state police force.
