An explosive was placed at an apartment complex on the Mt. Lincolnweg in Amsterdam-Noord on the night of Thursday to Friday 23 October. Police were alerted to a possible explosive at around 0.20am.

The Defence Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service (Explosieven Opruimingsdienst Defensie) made it safe. Residents did not have to be evacuated.

Shortly afterwards, police arrested an 18-year-old man in the NDSM-straat area. Police say they suspect he was involved in placing the explosive.

Three explosives have been placed at apartment complexes in Amsterdam-Noord and Zuidoost in the past seven days. Two of them, at the same residential complex in the Krommehoekstraat in the K-buurt in Zuidoost, went off: on Friday 16 October and again five days later. They caused damage, but nobody was hurt.

Mayor Halsema, fearing a repeat, has introduced emergency camera surveillance in the Krommehoekstraat. It applies until 22 November.
