Cody Gakpo's partner remembers stillborn son Elijah on Instagram

Noa van der Bij has posted a tribute on Instagram to the couple's stillborn son Elijah. It includes a black-and-white photo of her wrist with a bracelet bearing his name, an image of her pregnant belly and a photo of candles with his name on them.

"Around this time you should have been lying in our arms," she wrote in English. She added that Elijah's time with them was far too short, but that his place in the family is forever. She ended the post: "Keep shining, our brightest star."

Van der Bij and Gakpo announced in June that their son had died during the pregnancy. "With broken hearts we share the news that our son died during the pregnancy," they wrote in a joint message at the time.

Gakpo was in the United States with the Dutch national team for the World Cup when the news became public. In that message the couple thanked everyone who had supported them and stressed that Elijah would always belong to their family.
