BBB expects cabinet nitrogen proposals on Tuesday
BBB's Vermeer says the cabinet now wants to negotiate in earnest and that he expects its proposals on Tuesday, while the party wants the nitrogen plan changed or dropped.
The cabinet brought no new proposals to a digital meeting with BBB that lasted three quarters of an hour, the party's Vermeer said afterwards. "I do expect we will hear them on Tuesday," he said.
Vermeer said the cabinet now wants to negotiate in earnest. He has the impression that "the route via BBB is a full option" for the coalition.
Prime minister Rob Jetten, Finance Minister Eelco Heinen (VVD) and Agriculture Minister Jaimi van Essen (D66) represented the cabinet.
Van Essen's nitrogen plan is BBB's main stumbling block. Vermeer repeated that if nothing can change in the current plan, it must be taken off the table. He has not yet discussed the plan's "painful parts" with the cabinet.

BBB (BoerBurgerBeweging)
The BoerBurgerBeweging (BBB) is a Dutch political party, known in English as the Farmer-Citizen Movement. It is represented in the Dutch House of Representatives (Tweede Kamer) and in provincial and municipal councils, and it focuses on agriculture, rural areas and the interests of farmers. Its parliamentary group is often part of negotiations over forming or supporting a cabinet, which is why its talks with the cabinet are reported in the news.
