Two cars collided on the Rondweg Oost in Amersfoort at around 19.45 on Sunday 31 October. A woman and two children in one of the cars were seriously injured, police said. The fire brigade had to free them from the car, and they were rushed to hospital.

The driver of the other car, a 41-year-old man from Nijkerk, was arrested on suspicion of causing a serious traffic accident. The Rondweg Oost was closed for several hours so that collision investigators and the serious collision investigation unit could examine the scene.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash and have already spoken to several witnesses. They are asking anyone who saw the collision and has not yet spoken to them to call 0900-8844. Officers also want camera footage, including dashcam footage, from the area.
