Motocross rider escapes police at 140 km/h in Zeeland
A rider on an electric motocross bike fled police at a fatbike gathering in Nieuw- en Sint Joosland on Saturday evening, and police say they think they know who it was.
Police in Nieuw- en Sint Joosland chased a rider on an electric motocross bike on Saturday evening, with speeds reaching 140 kilometres per hour over 15 minutes. The rider got away down a track that the police motorcycle could not enter, the Zeeland-West-Brabant police said on Instagram.
Officers from the Walcheren team went to the village after a report that several fatbike riders had gathered and that illegal fatbikes might be among them. When police arrived, one rider fled and a police motorcyclist started a pursuit at once.
Police said the rider performed life-threatening stunts during the chase and had covered his face.
Police say they think they know who the rider is. They have seized a suspect's phone and are examining camera footage. They are asking anyone who has seen the rider before, or who has footage of him, to come forward.
