FNV gives ABN AMRO ultimatum over pay and office days

Union FNV has given ABN AMRO an ultimatum after talks on a new collective labour agreement stalled over pay and compulsory office days.

Union FNV has given ABN AMRO an ultimatum after talks on a new collective labour agreement (cao) produced nothing. It expires on 3 November at 9:00. FNV says the bank is sticking to a pay offer of two raises of 1.5% over two years.

The contempt ABN AMRO shows towards its own staff is appalling and unacceptable.Arne Gorter, FNV Finance negotiator

FNV demands a pay rise of 3% a year plus an extra €250 a month for every employee. Gorter says the bank's offer is too low to beat inflation.

The two sides also disagree on hybrid working. According to FNV, the bank wants staff in the office two days a week on average. The union wants room for existing team and individual arrangements, and at most one mandatory office day.

The union is not convinced by the bank's proposed appreciation bonus and fears it only redistributes existing money.

The union says it has gone back to its members to put the ultimatum to the bank.

If the bank does not move far enough in time, FNV says it will take further steps and prepare action.
