Rijksrecherche
The Rijksrecherche is the national investigation unit in the Netherlands that looks into criminal offences committed by police officers and other public officials. It works under the direction of the public prosecutor, so it investigates the police rather than the police investigating themselves in the usual way. It is the body that typically carries out the inquiry when police use of firearms or other serious incidents involving officers are reported.
