Police seize 60 kilos of cocaine and two firearms in Gilze en Rijen

Two 30-year-old men from Tilburg and Rijen remain in custody after officers found the drugs and guns in a property in the Brabant municipality.

Police found sixty kilograms of cocaine and two firearms in a property in the Gilze en Rijen area on Thursday 8 October and arrested two 30-year-old men, one from Tilburg and one from Rijen. Police announced the find on Monday 12 October.

Officers were observing the area as part of a drugs investigation. They saw full bags being handed over, possibly a drug deal. Later that day they entered the suspects' residence, where they found the cocaine and the weapons. Everything was seized.

The two men were in the building and were arrested there. Police say they are suspected of possession of hard drugs and firearms. They were taken to the police custody centre (politiecellencomplex), are being questioned and remain in custody.

Police are continuing the investigation. In their statement, they said buildings where drugs are stored, cut or sold attract criminals and violence, and asked residents to report suspicious activity on 0900-8844, or anonymously through Meld Misdaad Anoniem on 0800-7000.
