Group of five badly beats boy, 14, in Barendrecht
A 14-year-old boy spent days in intensive care after a group assaulted him in Barendrecht. Police are asking witnesses to come forward.
Police are appealing for information about the suspects after a group of five people badly beat a 14-year-old boy at the Swarttouwhaven in Barendrecht on Thursday 24 September, at around 20:15.
The boy was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Police say he lay in intensive care for days and may have permanent injuries.
Someone filmed the assault on a mobile phone from a home about a hundred metres away. The footage is too poor to identify those involved.
Police are asking witnesses, and anyone who recognises one or more of the suspects, to get in touch via the police tip line. Police say people who prefer to stay anonymous can call Meld Misdaad Anoniem, the anonymous crime-reporting line, on 0800-7000.

Meld Misdaad Anoniem
Meld Misdaad Anoniem (MMA) is a Dutch service where people can report crimes or pass on information about them without giving their name. Reports are passed on to the police and the judicial authorities, so the tip can still be used in an investigation. It works alongside the regular police tip line for people who do not want to be identified.
