NXP third-quarter profit up more than a third
Eindhoven-based chipmaker NXP Semiconductors posted higher third-quarter results. Its chief executive says data centre demand helped and strong profitability lets the company invest in more production capacity.
Eindhoven-based chipmaker NXP Semiconductors posted higher revenue in the third quarter. Its profit was up by more than a third on the same period a year earlier.
NXP makes chips and semiconductors used mainly in cars, industrial systems and smart devices.
In comments on the results, CEO Rafael Sotomayor said the company's performance was driven partly by "the continuing momentum in data centre infrastructure".
Strong profitability, he said, allows NXP to invest in "innovative solutions and expand production capacity in support of our long-term growth targets".
Sotomayor named data centre infrastructure as one of several drivers of the quarter, not the only one.
