Statistics Netherlands (CBS) counted 1,845 first asylum applications in August 2026, fewer than the 1,965 of August 2025 and the 2,930 of September 2024.

The highest monthly figure in the two years to August 2026 was 2,930, in September 2024. The lowest was 1,325, in March 2025.

Monthly applications fell from 2,740 in October 2024 to the March 2025 low, then climbed to 2,050 in July 2025. They reached 2,700 in September 2025, then 2,470 in October, 2,485 in November and 2,570 in December.
In 2026 the monthly figure has stayed between 1,810 and 2,145: 1,810 in June, 1,920 in July and 1,845 in August.
