Emigration falls back in August after a higher July
The number of people leaving the Netherlands in August 2026 was almost the same as a year earlier, after a higher figure in July.
Statistics Netherlands (CBS) counted 21,747 people who emigrated from the Netherlands in August 2026, including administrative corrections. In August 2025 the figure was 21,730, so this August was 17 higher.
Emigration was higher in July 2026, at 24,524. It stood at 18,666 in June and 14,017 in May.
The lowest monthly figure since August 2025 was in April 2026, at 13,578. Between September 2025 and March 2026 the monthly figure ranged from 14,700 in February to 19,602 in September.
