The blast in a bridal shop and the collapse that followed on 7 December 2024 killed six people in the Mariahoeve district of The Hague.
The court also quoted from statements by people who were rescued and survived the disaster. The statements were read out in the largest courtroom of the district court in The Hague, where the four suspects sat between their lawyers.
One of the dead was a 44-year-old man from Greece. His wife lives there with their three children. "His loss affects me every second of my life," she said in her statement. She said raising the children without her partner is impossible.
The judge also quoted her as saying: "My life as a human being is over. I live like a robot." She said the couple spoke by video call for a long time every day, but all attempts to reach him on 7 December failed.
