The criminal trial over the explosion that destroyed a bridal shop and the homes above it on the Tarwekamp in The Hague is opening at the district court. The blast struck in the early hours of 7 December 2024. The main suspect is Moshtag B. from Rotterdam.

The court has set aside nine days to go through the extensive case file. Victims and bereaved relatives will also have the chance to speak at the hearings.

The explosion hit the Mariahoeve district. It tore a hole in the street, and other homes and businesses nearby were badly damaged. Specialist rescue teams, including Urban Search and Rescue (USAR), came to help.

According to the Public Prosecution Service (OM), Moshtag B. planned the attack. He had had a relationship with the owner of the bridal shop.

The prosecution says he wanted to harm her and sent two men to carry out the attack.
