Cheap Asian parcels face another €2 EU levy
From 1 November the EU adds €2 per item to the €3 levy in place since July on cheap goods from web shops such as SHEIN and Temu.
From 1 November, the European Union will charge another €2 per imported item on cheap parcels from Asian web shops. It comes on top of the €3 per item that has applied since July.
The EU wants to put a brake on the stream of low-priced goods that web shops such as SHEIN and Temu send into the bloc. The €3 levy that has applied since July is charged on each article that is flown in.
The extra €2 is meant to cover the costs that customs services incur in processing and checking the flow of small shipments.
