Cabinet leaves both right and left unhappy on tax plan

Opposition parties on the right and left say they are dissatisfied with the tax plan.

JA21, BBB and SGP held another meeting with the cabinet on the tax plan (belastingplan), including Prime Minister Rob Jetten, and are not satisfied with the outcome. Pro leader Jesse Klaver also spoke with Jetten, Finance Minister Heinen and State Secretary Eerenberg on Friday, and is also dissatisfied.

JA21, BBB and SGP had made the cabinet a joint offer of support. "It is not yet how we would want it," JA21 leader Joost Eerdmans said as he left the Ministry of General Affairs.

Klaver said Pro wants working people to gain more and taxes on wealth to rise somewhat. "On those wishes we see no movement at all yet from the cabinet," he said. He wants to keep talking: "Time is very short."
