ANWB Energie cleared to take over NextEnergy
The competition authority ACM ruled on 26 October that enough competition remains after ANWB Energie buys NextEnergy.
ANWB Energie may take over NextEnergy Holding, the Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) decided on 26 October 2026. ANWB B.V.
The ACM said enough competition remains after the takeover. Both companies sell electricity and gas to consumers on dynamic tariffs, where the price follows the market.
ANWB Energie's contract links the price to the purchase price, made up of the exchange price, purchasing costs and government levies. It adds no profit margin on the energy usage itself, the ACM said.
NextEnergy is a holding company that fully owns NextEnergy B.V. and NextEnergy SmartHome Services B.V. It supplies consumers with electricity and gas on a dynamic day-ahead price model and on its own price-cap product. It also supplies these customers with home batteries that form part of a smart home system.
