AEX gains 0.9% to 1142.88 points, beating Wednesday's record of 1137.09

The Amsterdam main index rose 0.9% on Friday to its highest closing level on record, after tech shares were sold off earlier in the week and then partly regained interest.

The AEX, the main index of the Amsterdam stock exchange on the Damrak, closed 0.9% higher at 1142.88 points on Friday, a record closing level. It ended the trading week at its highest close on record.

The new record beats the previous closing high of 1137.09 points, set on Wednesday.

The mood on the Amsterdam market was positive going into the weekend. Earlier in the week, shares linked to artificial intelligence and the technology sector were sold off at first, but investors later returned to some of them. Tech shares also fell sharply at times, yet overall sentiment on the exchange stayed good.
