FNV wants 5.5% pay rise for petrol station workers

Employers made no wage offer as talks opened on a new collective agreement for petrol stations and car washes, the FNV says. The agreement is due to take effect on 1 January 2027.

The union FNV wants a pay rise of 5.5% plus €80 gross for workers at petrol stations and car washes. It tabled the demand on Thursday 22 October, when talks began on the new Tank & Was cao (collective labour agreement). According to the FNV, employers made no wage offer in the first round.

The FNV proposes a one-year term, with wages rising automatically in line with inflation. The new agreement is to start on 1 January 2027.

The union also wants youth wages abolished and a new pay scale. Its list includes better pay for overtime and night shifts, a mileage allowance of €0.25 per kilometre, and no waiting days when someone is sick. It also wants a right to be unreachable outside work, full reimbursement of union dues, and the same terms for temp workers as for permanent staff.

The FNV also proposes to investigate whether an early-retirement scheme (RVU) is possible in the sector, so that people in heavy work can stop earlier. A good pay rise, earlier retirement and a good work-life balance are its priorities, as they were last year.
