PRO demands infrastructure money in 'total deal' with cabinet
PRO says extra spending on infrastructure must be part of a "total deal" with the cabinet, and MP Habtamu de Hoop names higher national debt as one way to pay for it.
PRO wants more infrastructure money to be part of a "total deal" between the party and the cabinet. In the debate on the Infrastructure and Water Management budget, PRO MP Habtamu de Hoop named a higher national debt as one way to raise it, along with road pricing (rekeningrijden) and defence money.
Luciënne Boelsma-Hoekstra of coalition party CDA said De Hoop's demands are not concrete enough. She pointed out that he has submitted no amendments to change the budget.
De Hoop said he had struggled with that, because the total deal is hanging over the budget negotiations "like a dark cloud". Submitting amendments, he said, would not help the talks with the government.
