Police arrested four men on Thursday 29 October as part of an investigation into a series of bicycle thefts in Putten. The suspects are aged 23, 29, 34 and 36. Two of them live in Rotterdam.
Police held the action day to catch those behind the thefts in the act. Two of the men are suspected of involvement in dozens of bicycle thefts. The other two were arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods (heling).
Police say the investigation revealed a method. The stolen bikes were first put at another place, out of sight, and later loaded into a van. Only expensive electric bikes were involved, police said.
Police stopped the van and found several bicycles inside. The navigation system was already set to a route abroad.
Police are still investigating the exact role of each suspect and which thefts can be linked to them.
