An employee of the Oost-Brabant police has been barred from work for the time being. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) has opened a criminal investigation. The man may not work while he is suspected of breaching his official secrecy (ambtsgeheim). He has not been arrested.
He is suspected of possibly sharing confidential information with people outside the police and of misusing police systems.
Two investigations are running. One is a criminal investigation led by the OM. The other is an internal disciplinary inquiry by the police into whether he did his work properly, honestly and reliably.
