Amsterdam inner-city parking permit goes up to €73.47 a month

Most parking permits in Amsterdam will cost more from 1 January 2027, and the traffic alderman says the busiest areas will pay the most.

Most inner-city residents now pay €56.45 a month. Next year that will rise 30% to €73.47.

Inner-city residents will pay more than €15 extra a month; inside the Ring it is mostly €12.50 extra. Outside that the rise is smaller, but almost everywhere Amsterdammers will pay more.

In the other areas inside the Ring under the IJ, plus IJburg and Zeeburgereiland, the monthly rate will rise 41%, from €33.32 to €47.01. In Slotervaart, the Kolenkitbuurt and Buitenveldert, a first resident permit will cost more than twice as much, a rise of €20.20.

The coalition agreement that PRO and D66 concluded shortly before the summer had already announced higher resident parking costs.

Traffic alderman Elise Moeskops says the rates are rising to cover the costs of a growing city and a strained city budget, as inflation, rising interest rates and uncertainty over the municipal fund put the budget under pressure. “With this distribution, car owners in the busiest areas are taxed the most. These are also the areas where pressure on public space is greatest,” she said. She says these areas also have the most alternatives to a car, with denser public transport and more shared mobility.
