Jetten asks opposition to judge tax plan on content
The prime minister wants talks with opposition parties on the tax plan (belastingplan) to focus on what the plan actually contains.
Prime Minister Rob Jetten has called on opposition parties to make their negotiations on the tax plan (belastingplan) genuinely about its content. The minority cabinet is talking to opposition parties about the parliamentary support it needs.
"It is open to every parliamentary group to put forward which themes they consider important," Jetten said. "But our appeal is also: judge the tax plan on what is in it."

belastingplan
The belastingplan is the annual tax bill: the government's package of proposed changes to taxes and levies, such as income tax, VAT and benefits-related tax rules, for the coming year. It is submitted to the House of Representatives (Tweede Kamer) on Prinsjesdag, the third Tuesday of September, alongside the budget, and parliament debates and votes on it before it can take effect. Because it needs a majority in parliament to pass, its content is often the subject of negotiations between the government and opposition parties.
