Heijmans sells fewer new homes this year, 2,085 to October
Construction group Heijmans sold 2,085 new homes through October, down from 2,313 a year earlier, while its infrastructure renovation work is growing.
Construction group Heijmans sold 2,085 new homes in the first ten months of this year, against 2,313 in the same period of 2025. The company, based in Rosmalen, says it continues to suffer from the crisis in the Dutch housing market.
Heijmans points to grid congestion (netcongestie), difficult permit procedures, restraint among investors and a rising mortgage rate as the bottlenecks.
The company expects no quick relief. "For 2027 we are taking into account that the number of homes sold will remain under pressure," Heijmans said.
While home sales slow, the group has more infrastructure renovation work.

netcongestie
Grid congestion is the situation in which the electricity grid cannot transport or connect additional power, because there is not enough capacity at a given location or time. In the Netherlands it means that new homes, businesses, or projects may have to wait for a grid connection or for grid reinforcements from the grid operator. It matters for housing and construction because it can delay or block building projects that need a connection.
