Asylum minister Bart van den Brink on Monday placed eleven more municipalities under enhanced supervision because they take in too few asylum seekers. The list now has 74 municipalities; 63 were already on it.

Bergeijk and Best, both in Noord-Brabant, must explain to the ministry how they will still comply with the distribution law (spreidingswet).

Under the distribution law, each municipality must provide a set number of reception places for asylum seekers. Municipalities under enhanced supervision are those that are not yet doing enough to meet that number.

The other new additions are Dantumadiel and Noardeast-Fryslân in Friesland; Elburg, Neder-Betuwe and West Betuwe in Gelderland; Castricum in Noord-Holland; and Gennep, Mook en Middelaar and Roerdalen in Limburg.

The cabinet had earlier put municipalities including Westland, Oldebroek, Houten, Vlaardingen, Heerenveen, Culemborg, Diemen and Staphorst under supervision.
