All ministries together must cut or simplify 750 rules by the end of 2027, State Secretary Eric van der Burg told parliament, to reduce regulatory burden.
Dutch ministries together must have scrapped or simplified a total of 750 rules by the end of 2027. State Secretary Eric van der Burg (Slagvaardige Overheid, or effective government) reported this in a letter to the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of parliament.
Each ministry has been given its own target.
The aim of the exercise is to reduce regulatory burden, the load of rules and obligations that people and organisations have to deal with.
Slagvaardige Overheid
The Decisive Government initiative is a national administrative program focused on reducing bureaucracy and simplifying regulations. It aims to make public services more efficient and easier to navigate for both citizens and businesses. By cutting red tape, the government seeks to improve policy execution and ensure rules are practical to implement.
Tweede Kamer
The lower house of the Dutch parliament is the primary legislative body in the Netherlands, consisting of 150 directly elected representatives. It is responsible for debating national laws, proposing amendments, and holding the government cabinet accountable for its policies. A coalition must secure a majority of seats in this chamber to successfully form a new government.
